2018 - 2019

Overarching Goal

By the end of the 2019-2020 school year students at Lone Peak Elementary will increase their proficiency on grade level standards by 10% in the areas of English Language Arts, Math and Science as measured by SAGE.

School Community Council and Staff Involvement in the TSSP
School Community Councils play an integral part in the development and monitoring of TSSP goals. Please briefly describe the participation of SCC members in the development process of this TSSP:

Data was reviewed by members of the school community council.  Ideas for continued growth were presented to the school community council.  Members discussed the different types of assessment, the information given by different assessments and the desire to see students reach higher levels of growth by focusing on more complex, meaningful learning.

Academic Goal

While growth was made on DWSBA, Lone Peak Elementary has not yet reached a proficiency level of 80%. We believe this is due to lessons that require more attention to depth of knowledge and student attempts at problem-based learning. A strategy for improvement is developing Math lessons with purposeful planning, teacher clarity and a focus on structured group discussions around problem-based learning and more complex problems.

By the end of the 2018-2019 school year, 80% of students at Lone Peak Elementary will perform at a proficient level on District Wide Standards Based Assessments in the area of mathematics.

Teacher Clarity and Structured Group Discussions

We need to offer students more opportunities to solve problem-based learning without teacher support and hold structured discussions to express their thinking.

Teachers will:
*purposefully plan Envision units to ensure teacher clarity
*design additional opportunities for students to engage in math problem solving.
* design lessons which include well planned structured classroom discussion to express mathematical thinking.

We will measure progress towards the goal with DWSBA and team created CFAs.

Academic Goal

At Lone Peak Elementary School 62% of Third Graders, 61% of Fourth Graders and 48% of Fifth Graders are on track to make 100 points of growth on RI. 100 points of growth is considered to be one year's growth. This pattern is consistent in many different lexile levels. We believe this problem is a result of a lack of opportunities for students to engage meaningfully with text. A strategy for improvement is developing Language Arts lessons with purposeful planning, teacher clarity and a focus on structured group discussions.

During the 2018-2019 school year, students in Grades 3-5 at Lone Peak Elementary school will increase proficiency in the area of reading by 3.3% as measured by SAGE Language Arts. During the 2018-2019 school year K-2 students at Lone Peak Elementary will reach 90% proficiency on Dibels Reading according to composite score.

Teacher Clarity and Structured Group Discussions

The system structure of routine to be altered is increasing the amount of time students spend engaged in purposeful and complex reading tasks.

Teachers will:
*purposefully plan Reading Street units to ensure teacher clarity
*design additional opportunities for students to engage in text.
* design lessons which include well planned structured classroom discussion to increase comprehension of text.

We will measure progress towards the goal with RI, Reading Plus, Dibels Progress Monitoring and team created CFAs.

School Climate Goal

30% of students attending Lone Peak Elementary are not on track for the Early Warning System of attendance. This attendance data seems to have a high correlation to other Early Warning System data. We think this is due to a combination of factors, including number of family vacations taken and increased observance of student anxiety. One strategy to positively impact attendance data is to create an environment where students want to be at school and on time.

During the 2018-2019 School Year, 85% of students at Lone Peak Elementary will be on track using the early warning system indicator of attendance as measured by office attendance records.

*develop an instructional model that focuses on high-quality teaching and learning – classes that are stimulating and organized support student engagement and attendance
create an environment where students want to be at school and on time

We will greet each child each day as they enter the classroom. IN addition teachers will plan lesson with a focus on teacher clarity and student engagement.

Lone Peak Staff will:
*create a safe and caring school environment that recognizes that all staff in a school are responsible for student wellbeing, engagement and attendance
*build positive relationships - know your students and their strengths and interests

Attendance data will be tracked monthly.
