Teacher and Student Success Plan
2019 - 2020

Overarching Goal

Silver Mesa's overarching goal will be to increase student proficiency in ELA, using DIBELs and RI assessments to track progress.  We will continue a school-wide focus on Structured Classroom Discussion.

School Community Council and Staff Involvement in the TSSP
School Community Councils play an integral part in the development and monitoring of TSSP goals. Please briefly describe the participation of SCC members in the development process of this TSSP:

In our monthly meetings, progress on the current CSIP is discussed and data from screening assessments are shared.  During Feb. 2019, we reviewed these items again and discussed appropriate goals to promote progress.  We determined to set goals that were consistent across the different areas, looking for small, annual gains.

Academic Goals

75% is our average for all grades for their math scores. Primary concerns about grades meeting benchmark are in K, 1st, and 2nd grades.
Strategies for improvement are prioritizing fidelity of Structured Classroom Discussion, incorporating vocabulary, and implementing Dyad Reading. In addition, a focus on data, creating a plan and follow through as well as increasing teacher self-efficacy.

By May of 2020, 80% of students in K-5 will demonstrate mastery of core standards in Math as measured by the DIBELSnet assessments. In winter of 2019, 75% of students in K-5 were proficient in DIBELs math assessments.

We will encourage strategies for increasing student talk time throughout the school day. Our focus on SCD will support this goal.

After each assessment period (October, February, and June) the data will be shared with PTA and SCC as well as our teachers.

Academic Goals

77% is our average for all grades for their reading composite/RI scores. And 3 out of 6 grades are getting 80% or better on their benchmark scores. Primary concerns about grades meeting benchmark are in 1st, 4th and 5th grades. We also believe that there are inconsistent application of instructional priorities, and a lack of self-efficacy to plan effectively.
Strategies for improvement are prioritizing fidelity of Structured Classroom Discussion, incorporating vocabulary, and implementing Dyad Reading. In addition, a focus on data, creating a plan and follow through as well as increasing teacher self-efficacy.

By May of 2020, 83% of students in K-3 will demonstrate mastery of core standards in English Language Arts as measured by the DIBELSnet assessment. 83% of students in grades 4-5 will demonstrate mastery of core standards in English Language Arts as measured by the RI assessment.
