Teacher and Student Success Plan
2019 - 2020

Overarching Goal

By the school year 2020, Ridgecrest will work together with families and community partners to establish and maintain a safe, supportive, and academically challenging school environment.  We will continually show growth and positive school climate.

School Community Council and Staff Involvement in the TSSP
School Community Councils play an integral part in the development and monitoring of TSSP goals. Please briefly describe the participation of SCC members in the development process of this TSSP:

The school community council began reviewing school performance data in February.  The SCC had two meetings to discuss the vision of the school and ideas and goals for the CSIP and LandTrust plans.  The BLT then took the suggestions of the SCC and helped create the CSIP plan.  The SCC then reviewed the plan and approved the plan.

Academic Goals

34% of General Education students and 18% of Dual Immersion students are not proficient on DIBELS English Language Arts benchmarks. 53% of General Education students and 28% of Dual Immersion students are not proficient on Reading Inventory benchmarks. We believe the problem is a result of a lack of phonemic awareness and phonics skills. A strategy for improvement is to explicitly teach Phonemic Awareness on a daily basis. Another strategy will be to continue a focus on planning strategic skill-based instruction. We will also implement Structured Classroom Discussions and Close Reading schoolwide. There will be a focus on embedding phonemic awareness into instructional routines in Tier 1 and Tier 2 settings, as well as fidelity to standardized curriculum.

For the 2019-2020 school year, 70% of Kindergarten through 3rd grade students will make typical or higher growth on the literacy composite as measured by Pathways of Progress in Acadience by spring 2020. 80% of 4th and 5th grade students will meet or exceed expected growth on the Reading Inventory by spring 2020.

Collaboration between the special education teacher and the general education teacher is a priority. PA and Phonics instruction is a daily focus. Progress monitoring is used to guide instruction. Students will graph their progress monitoring and set goals.

Clear expectations for responding to peers during discussions will be consistent across grade/content levels. Phase One of Structured classroom discussions will be implemented in 100% of classrooms. Skill-based instruction will strategically target skill gaps and planning will be intentional.

Data will be shared 3 times per year with staff and the SCC.
