Academic Goals

Our at risk students are consistently under-performing their peers in the areas of graduation rate, attendance and academics.

Brighton High School's at risk students are at much greater risk of not graduating, based on Early Warning System (EWS) indicators in Data Dashboard. Brighton High School will reduce the EWS discrepancy between students who are at risk and the general population by at least 2% in each of the areas of graduation rate, attendance and academics (GPA and F's and D's) during the 2019-20 school year.

A focus on structured classroom discussion as a mechanism to focus on teacher clarity and content literacy strategies.

(Departments will identify their own success criterion for this action plan prior to setting their 2019-2020 personal growth and department goals. Admin to follow up with specific departments.)

We will analyze EWS data at the conclusion of each term.

By focusing on our three identified instructional priorities included in our action plan summary, students with disabilities will be better served within Special Education and mainstream classrooms.

Brighton High will have a course specifically designed for our ELL level 1-4 students. Additionally, a focus on content literacy strategies and appropriate scaffolds will enable ELL students to be better served in their mainstream classrooms.

After collaboration with the School Community Council, the CSIP will be posted on Brighton's webpage and sent out in a school newsletter at the end of the 2019-20 school year. At the conclusion of each term, progress data will be shared with Brighton's faculty and SCC.

School Climate Goals

The 2018-19 school climate surveys show that Brighton's student and parent perceptions are on average lower than the district averages in most indicators.

Brighton High will improve community perceptions of Brighton High School as measured by a climate survey developed in collaboration with the School Community Council by addressing the need for authentic relationships, restorative practices and trauma informed instruction.
