Silver Mesa's overarching goal will be to
increase student proficiency in ELA, using Acadience and Reading Inventory assessments to track
progress. We will continue a school-wide focus on Structured Classroom
Discussion and add the Dyad reading strategy.
School Community Council and Staff Involvement in the TSSP
School Community Councils play an integral part in the development and monitoring of TSSP goals. Please briefly describe the participation of SCC members in the development process of this TSSP:
We met as an SCC on Feb. 5, 2020 to start preliminary discussions about our TSSP for next year. Their input was solicited. We shared data from this school year's fall and winter assessments to show where we were at currently, as well as displayed data from last spring to look at trends. Teachers shared their observations about student learning and how they as a staff supported the goals and expenditures. The SCC parent members asked clarifying questions and supported the expenditures.

Academic Goals
The average for all grades for meeting reading benchmarks in Acadience and RI assessments is 77.79%. Three out of six grades are getting 80% or better on their benchmark scores. Primary concerns about grades not meeting benchmark are in 1st, 4th and 5th grades. We believe the problem is a result of inconsistencies among teachers in following the master schedule, application of instructional priorities, and foundational skills. Strategies for improvement are prioritizing fidelity of adhering to the master schedule, improving efficacy with Structured Classroom Discussion, Dyad reading, and foundational skills, and utilizing IPLCs effectively.
By May of 2020, 83% of students in K-5 will demonstrate mastery of core standards in English Language Arts as measured by the Acadience assessment (k-3) and the RI assessment (4-5). In winter of 2020, 77.79% of students met reading benchmarks.

We will monitor adherence to the master schedule in our school as well as implementation of Structured Classroom Discussion, Dyad reading, and Foundational skills. We will provide professional development for teachers around Dyad reading, Structured Classroom Discussion, and Foundational Skills and best reading practices. ($3500 to provide substitutes & $3500 to pay a stipend or registration cost) We'll ensure IPLCs include some time to focus on best practices for ELA every week, including intentional planning around data. We will implement software technology interventions ($8,500) as well as provide aides to support interventions in reading and behavior ($48,000).

Increasing SCD, Dyad reading, and foundational skills in Tier 1 instruction will scaffold and support our students with disabilities. We will also have our teachers meet in skill-based groups daily with students with disabilities. We will monitor implementation progress with the same measurements as listed above.
Again, increasing SCD, Dyad reading, and foundational skills in Tier 1 instruction will scaffold and support our English Learner students. We will reflect on World-class Instructional Design and Assessment data in IPLCs and identify scaffolds that allow all students to participate in SCD.
After each assessment period (October, February, and June) the data will be shared with PTA and SCC as well as our teachers.

By May of 2021, 80% of students in K-5 will demonstrate mastery of core standards in Math as measured by the DIBELSnet assessments. In winter of 2019, 75% of students in K-5 were proficient in Acadience math assessments.

School Climate Goals
About 6% of our students are at risk according to our Office Discipline Referral data. Most referrals occur during the lunch recess times. We believe it is a result of insufficient supervision and lack of strong relationships.
By May of 2021, 90% of the classes will be participating in Morning Meetings and implementing Second Step curriculum in order to build positive relationships with students.

Summary of Expenditures for all Goals
Summary - replace me
If there are additional funds, we would increase spending in any of the identified areas already listed in the plan. We may increase MTSS assistants and/or their hours. We will also look at technology needs and allocate extra funds to purchasing software and/or hardware. We would look at providing extra staff to support teachers and students. We would also look at curriculum supports such as Scholastic News or intervention programs (such as 95% Group).
