School Community Councils play an integral part in the development and monitoring of TSSP goals. Please briefly describe the participation of SCC members in the development process of this TSSP:

Sunrise SCC monitors TSSP goals and plays an integral part in developing our 2020 - 2021 TSSP.

  • In our October SCC meeting, we looked at our spring CBM data, last year's RISE scores, K-3 Pathways goals, and reviewed our TSSP goals.
  • In our November SCC meeting, we discussed our 2020 - 2021 plans.  We talked about allocating resources.
  • In our January SCC meeting, we began writing our plans focusing our PD needs and potential resource allocation.
  • In our March SCC meeting, we went over winter CBM data and K-3 Pathways progress.  We finalized our plans and approved them.

Academic Goals

Based on reading benchmark measures, 22% of students are not meeting our proficiency goal. Currently three out of the six grade levels met the recommended proficiency for student achievement. We believe the problem is teacher understanding of standards and skills embedded within the standards, inefficient implementation of skill based groups, and inefficient implementation of behavior support/scaffolds. A strategy for improvement is implementing Impact Team protocols in professional learning communities to break down standards, make success criterias, evaluate student work, and make plans to improve instruction small and whole group instruction. Another strategy is for teams to utilize public practice to learn instructional and behavioral strategies to improve their teaching.

School Climate Goals

Sunrise continues to work on creating a positive feedback culture that is open to learning conversations. We believe the problem is a result of adults seeing feedback as criticism. Strategies for improvement are rewriting our school’s mission/vision statement, implementing restorative practices, professional development for Building Leadership Team on teacher efficacy, implementing Impact Teams protocols, and teaching our students to own their choices.

85% of students on Student Risk Screening Scale will rank in low internalizing (emotionally flat, shy, sad, anxious, and lonely) behavior's category by 2021.
