2021 - 2022

Overarching Goal

School Community Council and Staff Involvement in the TSSP
School Community Councils play an integral part in the development and monitoring of TSSP goals. Please briefly describe the participation of SCC members in the development process of this TSSP:

The SCC met twice to talk about LandTrust and TSSP goals. The SCC reviewed the data, discussed where the staff thinks they need improvement, and then helped to refine the proposed goal.

Academic Goals

26% of students in grades K-3 are not showing typical or higher growth on Acadience Pathways of Progress. This pattern is consistent across all grade levels. We have identified a learning gap in phonemic awareness and phonics skills, as well as unfinished learning due to COVID. A strategy for improvement is a focus on planning the foundational block as well as implementing the high leveraging priorities.

47% of students in grades 4-5 are not showing typical or higher growth on on Reading Inventory. This pattern is that not enough students in the Basic and Below Basic levels are moving to Proficient or Advanced. We believe the problem is a result of not enough practice with close reading.. A strategy for improvement is a focus on close reading and implementing the high leveraging priorities.

For the 2021-2022 school year, 70% of Kindergarten through 3rd grade students will make typical or higher growth on the literacy composite as measured by Pathways of Progress in Acadience by spring 2022. 75% of 4th and 5th grade students will meet or exceed expected growth on the Reading Inventory by spring 2022.

School Climate Goals

28% of students are assessed by their teachers to be either moderately or highly at risk based on their Student Risk Screening-Internalizing and Externalizing (SRSS-IE) scores for Fall and Winter of the 2020-21 school year. This pattern is most common across general education and dual immersion populations. High Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) scores and trauma in our students lives as well as COVID collective trauma may be causing the higher scores.

Mental health issues and a changing society may also be leading to so many students being identified as moderately or high risk. A strategy for improvement is utilization of the Morning Meetings and small group and individual counseling with the school counselor and/or school psychologist, and use of check-in check-out (CICO) trackers with our behavior interventionists.

For the school year 2021-2022, 100% of high risk internalizing/externalizing students on Student Risk Screening-Internalizing and Externalizing (SRSS-IE) will have the option to receive services through behavior interventionists and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) team within a month of the SRSS-IE being given.
