Teacher and Student Success Plan
2021 - 2022

Overarching Goal

Multi-year goal is to improve our graduation rate to 75% or higher.

School Community Council and Staff Involvement in the TSSP
School Community Councils play an integral part in the development and monitoring of TSSP goals. Please briefly describe the participation of SCC members in the development process of this TSSP:

SCC has been involved throughout our CSI school improvement process and planning. The SCC understands and supports the priority of having a graduation rate at or above 75%.

Academic Goals

Due to our status as a Comprehensive School Improvement (CSI) school, our goal is directly in line with our 3-year USBE approved improvement plan.

High school graduation is the biggest priority at Diamond Ridge. We were placed on School Improvement during the spring of 2019, status based on our three year average graduation rate of below 67%.
33% of students were not graduating. As an alternative high school, the overwhelming majority of our students face challenges in their schools, communities or homes. They thrive in an environment other than a traditional school setting because we are able to provide additional service in a small, supportive environment. One of the most effective tools we use is to add adult support personnel, whose focus is to work with students to personalize what each student needs to be successful in school.

Our plan is to use $13,000 in awarded funds to pay toward the pay and benefits for an hourly staff member, either a counselor or a student advocate. We would advertise first for a counselor, and if we are unable to hire a suitable applicant, we would advertise for a student advocate. This position will monitor attendance, grades, and behavior; and will meet with students weekly, communicating with parents, teachers and counselors to provide students with additional supports and strategies to help them graduate from high school with their senior cohort.

Official CSD graduation rates measured on or before October 1, 2022.

Our hands-on approach in working with students who are most at risk of dropping out helps us provide the individualized services identified in DRHS student IEP and 504 goals.

The staff member hired will track language development progresss for Multi Lingual Learners (ML Learners) to ensure they meet goals for adequate English language progress and proficiency, leading to high school graduation.

We will communicate progress to stakeholders through newsletters and on the school website, in conjunction with our regular SCC reporting in the fall and spring.

We would use the funds to increase the hours this position or other staff are working directly with students (salary and benefits). If this is not possible, we would use remaining funds to purchase TI calculators for student use. This is consistent with our graduation improvement goal.
