Teacher and Student Success Plan
2022 - 2023

Overarching Goal

High school graduation is the biggest priority at Diamond Ridge. We were placed on School Improvement during the spring of 2019, status based on our three year average graduation rate of below 67%. To maintain our successful exit from this plan, and more importantly, continue to support our district’s most at-risk high school students, we will maintain graduation as our highest priority for the 2022-23 school year.

As such, we plan to use the entire amount of our TSSP award to pay toward the salary and benefits of a .5 School Counselor position.

School Community Council and Staff Involvement in the TSSP
School Community Councils play an integral part in the development and monitoring of TSSP goals. Please briefly describe the participation of SCC members in the development process of this TSSP:

Having an additional .5 School Counselor is extremely beneficial to support a more manageable caseload, with greater accessibility for students who wish to meet with a school counselor. One parent noted the importance of having an additional counselor and what that means to students and families.

As an alternative high school, the overwhelming majority of our students face challenges in their schools, communities or homes. They thrive in an environment other than a traditional school setting because we are able to provide additional service in a small, supportive environment. One of the most effective tools we use is to add adult support personnel, whose focus is to work with students to personalize what each student needs to be successful in school, as well as to establish and maintain the positive relationships that evidence-based practices tell us are essential to support student success toward graduation.

1. Our plan is to use the estimated $12,313 of Land Trust awarded funds, as well as the $15,193 of TSS funds, to continue toward the pay and benefits for hour half-time counselor.

2. Specifically, the counselor will support the student’s attendance, grades, and behavior; and will meet with students weekly, communicating with parents, teachers and counselors to provide students with additional supports and strategies to help them graduate from high school with their senior cohort.

The USBE official graduation rate for Diamond Ridge for the 2023 senior cohort.

Based on prior performance of students with disabilities due to our focus on increasing graduation rates for all students, our students with disabilities met or exceeded the overall Diamond Ridge graduation rate during the same time period. This plan to increase School Counselor hours and accessibility will continue to support our students with disabilities. We monitor all student progress through the USBE graduation reporting for the entire graduating cohort.

Based on prior performance of students who are English learners due to our focus on increasing graduation rates for all students, our students who are English Learners met or exceeded the overall Diamond Ridge graduation rate during the same time period. This plan to increase School Counselor hours and accessibility will continue to support our students who are English Learners. We monitor all student progress through the USBE graduation reporting for the entire graduating cohort.

We will include our official graduation rate in one of the spring newsletters following the official release of graduation rates by the USBE.

Since the TSSP and Land Trust plans' combined funding is insufficient to pay the entire salary and benefits costs of a .5 School Counselor position, any additional funding will also be spent toward funding this position.
