Teacher and Student Success Plan
2023 - 2024

Overarching Goal
School Community Council and Staff Involvement in the TSSP
School Community Councils play an integral part in the development and monitoring of TSSP goals. Please briefly describe the participation of SCC members in the development process of this TSSP:

Midvalley SCC plays an integral part in developing and supporting our TSSP.

  • In our October SCC meeting, we reviewed our school accountability report and fall Acadience data.
  • In our November SCC meeting, we looked at our Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) student groups data from RISE 2022.  We made sufficient progress for all three groups (Multilingual, Hispanic, and SPED) on RISE last spring.  We need one more year of sufficient progress to no longer be in TSI status for each student group.
  • In our January SCC meeting, we reviewed our roles in writing TSSP and Land Trust plans.  We discussed SCC priorities for expenditures.
  • In our February SCC meeting, we went over winter Acadience data.  We looked at proficiency and growth in reading and math measures.  Based on the data, we identified school needs and priorities.  Building Leadership Team input on school goals resource allocation was shared.
  • In our March SCC meeting, we reviewed the TSSP draft created by building leadership team.  We discussed our goals, professional development needs, and resource allocation.

Academic Goals

Continue to focus on reading efforts in order to make typical or above typical growth on Pathways to Progress for reading and growth in Lexile scores. Strategies for improvement are to implement high leverage reading practices (reading connected text, vocabulary routine, and writing 3-5). Implement cooperative structures, structured classroom discussion, close reading, intentional planning, skill based instruction, intensified routines, and foundational skills.

60% of K - 5th graders will make typical or better growth in reading as measured by Acadience Pathways of Progress Reading Composite Score by the end of 2023-2024 school year. SCC/BLT aims to set realistic, attainable goals. After discussion with the teams, the consensus was to set the goal at 60% with the plan to increase our goal every year as our current average in K - 5th is 52%.

4th and 5th grade students will increase ELA RISE 3-5 percentage points by the end of 2023-2024 school year. The 3-5 percentage points is based on a previous training from CSD where it was shared that a 3-5% increase is an ideal growth goal.

Academic Goals

Continue efforts toward solid core math instruction by improving scores on Acadience mathematics measures in all grades. Strategies for improvement are implementing high leverage mathematical practices (number talks, increase mathematical language and discourse through close reading and systematic vocabulary, concrete-representational-abstract model) and implementing a focus on intentional planning for whole and small group instruction, and vertical alignment with number sense.

70% of K - 5th graders will make typical or better growth in mathematics as measured by Acadience Pathways of Progress Math Composite Score by the end of 2023-2024 school year. SCC/BLT aims to set realistic, attainable goals. After discussion with the teams, the consensus was to set the goal at 70% with the plan to increase our goal every year as our current average in K - 5th is 62%.
