Teacher and Student Success Plan
2023 - 2024

Overarching Goal

The goal for Union Middle School is for all students to show growth in literacy in all subject areas and math by ensuring that students have access to high-quality instruction in a safe, positive learning environment that focuses on the overall wellness of students as outlined in Canyons District Strategic Plan.

School Community Council and Staff Involvement in the TSSP
School Community Councils play an integral part in the development and monitoring of TSSP goals. Please briefly describe the participation of SCC members in the development process of this TSSP:

Union Middle School Community Council (SCC) members  meet on a monthly basis to discuss and review data trends.  This allows for adjustments and development of ideas for the next year school plan.  Ideas are then presented to the SCC and BLT in January and February.  In March and April decisions about how to utilize the LandTrust monies and adjust the goal and action plans are discussed and  approved.

School Climate Goals

Problem Statement
The data shows that the students want to be successful, but they are stressed and overwhelmed with school and my feel unsafe.

We believe the challenge is students' social and emotional well-being as well as their understanding of how to be a successful student has been adversely affected by the disruption of school structure.

Measured by the CTESS teacher/student surveys, we will increase our performance yearly on the following survey questions:
I am pleased with how this school supports my child's emotional well-being (Union 3.16 district 3.2)
My school is a place where I feel safe (Union 3.12 district 3.24)
