School Community Council and Staff Involvement in the TSSP
School Community Councils play an integral part in the development and monitoring of TSSP goals. Please briefly describe the participation of SCC members in the development process of this TSSP:

Sunrise SCC monitors TSSP goals and plays an integral part in developing our 2023-2024 TSSP

  • In our September SCC meeting, we looked at fall CBM data.
  • In our November SCC meeting, we discussed our DWSBA results.
  • In our January SCC meeting, we went over winter CBM data.
  • In our March and April SCC meetings, we finalized our plans and approved them.

Academic Goals

At the end of the 2021-2022 school year the math benchmark measures indicated that 19% of students were not meeting the Acadience proficiency goal. We will continue to focus on our math block and work to ensure consistent use of research based instructional strategies during whole group math block and consistent implementation of small group instruction. Strategies for improvement are implementing high leverage mathematical practices (number talks, increase mathematical language and discourse through close reading and systematic vocabulary, and concrete-representational-abstract model) and implementing a focus on intentional planning for small group instruction.

80% of K - 2nd grade students will show typical or better growth as measured by Acadience Mathematics Measures 2024.
80% of 3rd - 5th grade students will achieve proficient on RISE Mathematics 2024.
100% of 3rd - 5th grade SALTA students will achieve proficient or highly proficient on RISE Mathematics 2024.

To increase the math computation and applied reasoning skills of our students, Sunrise Elementary will hire and train 3 interventionists to provide strategic math interventions for struggling students ($37,000) TSSP, focus on prioritized math strategies such as purchasing and using the Building Fact Fluency kits (BFF) ($1,000) TSSP using the concrete representational abstract model and number talks, purchase and utilize adaptive math computer programs ($6,500) Landtrust, Chrombooks/ipads will be purchased to use during math block ($500) TSSP, teacher observation of peers and provide substitutes for the teachers ($500) TSSP, and provide training, coaching, and feedback for all teachers.

Over the past few years, student scores on Concepts and Applications have decreased. This is likely due to the disruption of learning due to COVID and related factors. Student understanding of mathematical concepts and how to apply them is critical to performance in mathematics overall. In order to positively impact student understanding of math concepts we will need to increase the effectiveness of our tier 1 instruction and tier 2 instruction to include continued use of Number Talks, use of manipulatives in instruction, challenging mathematical practice for students and use of instructional aides to help support instruction. Growth will be measured using Acadience Concepts and Application assessments.

School Climate Goals

28% of students exhibit moderate to high risk internalizing behavior according to Student Risk Screening Scale - Internalizing (SSRS-IE) data in winter 2023. We want to better support our students by using explicit instruction in to give students skills on how to emotionally regulate and to advocate for themselves to develop connections with adults and feel safe at Sunrise. A strategy for improvement is implementing Morning Meetings, 10:2, and utilize peace corners.
