Teacher and Student Success Plan
2018 - 2019

Overarching Goal

Indian Hills Middle School is committed to creating a safe and positive school environment that focuses on strengthening students' foundational academic skills in content literacy, reading strategies, and critical thinking.

School Community Council and Staff Involvement in the TSSP
School Community Councils play an integral part in the development and monitoring of TSSP goals. Please briefly describe the participation of SCC members in the development process of this TSSP:

The IHMS SCC had two complete reviews of the CSIP and Land Trust Plans, giving feedback, recommendation and approval of both plans.  Throughout the year, ongoing data was shared to monitor our progress of our current goals which allowed the SCC to have information to give input for the 2018-19 plans.

School Climate Goal

30% of our minority population is currently off-track on the Canyons School District Early Warning System (EWS). We believe the problem is a result of inconsistent implementation of 4:1 positive to corrective feedback ratio, lack of cultural awareness, inconsistent scaffold kid-talk and timely parent contact.

To reduce the off-track percentage of minority students to 20% on the CSD EWS by Spring 2019.

Developing positive teacher-student relationships, consistent use of positive feedback and providing timely interventions.

Continue to employ consistent 4:1 feedback ratios in all classrooms, increase positive teacher/student relationship/cultural awareness, focus on at-risk student identification and increase our communication with parents.

Use EWS to identify at-risk students, increase communication with parents, increase team and classroom positive recognition, conduct self-evaluation of student recognition twice at designated times.

Teacher observations, IPLC notes, EWS data, teacher self-evaluation.
