Teacher and Student Success Plan
2018 - 2019

Overarching Goal

Vision: Teachers will create engaging, intellectually demanding learning experiences that teach students to make interdisciplinary connections. Students will find meaning in their education through active learning.  Students will demonstrate their understanding through performance of academic skills, using supporting evidence, and applying problem-solving strategies.

School Community Council and Staff Involvement in the TSSP
School Community Councils play an integral part in the development and monitoring of TSSP goals. Please briefly describe the participation of SCC members in the development process of this TSSP:

The school goals have been discussed in part or whole at each School Community Council meeting, including spending goals, ideas for improvement areas, and requests for information regarding programs and scheduling. In addition, information regarding previous year's plan and metrics was presented and discussed at the beginning of the school year.

Academic Goal

Academic scores as measured by the Reading Inventory and Math Inventory, which correlate to the SAGE assessments, are not where we expect Albion students to be. Reading Inventory scores range from 71 - 79% at proficiency across the grades, and Math Inventory scores range from 37 - 57% proficient across the grades. 31% of the students show at least one risk factor, according to our EWS data. The problem is a lack of engagement in rigorous learning experiences scaffolded to meet the needs of both highly proficient learners and struggling learners. Two strategies for improvement are 1. Have true/authentic dialogue with students w/ a focus on quality feedback and 2. Increasing rigor through interdisciplinary tasks including higher level problem-solving.

1. In SY 2018-19, students scoring Below Basic or Basic on the RI and MI will increase their scores by 10% from fall to spring, or those scoring Proficient or Advanced will maintain as Proficient or Advanced.
2. All teachers will plan, teach, and evaluate one cross-curricular performance task per semester.
3. The percentage of teachers reading "Highly Effective" on "Engagement is Universal" will increase from 64% to 90% on the IPOP observation tool.

Scaffolded Instruction & Grouping Structures as a strategy to specifically increase cognitive rigor.

Collaboration time will be reallocated to ensure adequate time for developing effective grouping structures and understanding of cognitive rigor. Resources: Protocol, criteria, and observations with feedback.

Faculty and staff will identify, implement, and evaluate ways to increase student motivation via feedback strategies, and increasing the rigor in the classroom with appropriate scaffolding.

Progress will be monitored through formal and informal iPOP data, teacher walkthroughs/micro-teaching.

School Climate Goal

We are concerned about the availability of Tier 2 strategies for academics and behavior. This leads to inefficient use of resources, and uneven or ineffective supports for students. Thirty-one percent of the students have at least one risk factor, according to our Early Warning System data. This trend is increasing over time and is common across all sub-groups. Fourteen percent are not on track for "Quarterly GPA."

The percentage of students on track for "Quarterly GPA" (percentage of students with 2.5 or higher) will increase from 86% to 91% by the end of SY 2018-19.

A systematic Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) will be our focus.

An MTSS system will be implemented, and evaluated. This will include scaffolding, interventions, data analysis, and parent communication.

Scaffolding techniques, how to implement interventions, efficient data analysis, and efficient and effective parent communication strategies.

Student identification through the EWS monthly.
SST meeting documentation reviewed by Administrative team.
Ipop data regarding scaffolding, rate of feedback, and feedback cycles.
Ipop data on monitored student behavior.
